Dove seasons set for Mississippi

North Zone seasons are Sept. 1 to Sept. 21, Oct. 3 to Nov. 9 and Jan. 1-Jan 11.

South Zone seasons are Sept. 1 to Sept. 14, Oct. 11-Oct. 26 and Dec. 7-Jan. 15.

Relaxed federal frameworks allowed the state to have both a 70-day season with a 15-bird daily bag limit. The longer second season in the North Zone and the longer third season in the South Zone were products of the extra 10 days this year. In past years, Mississippi had an option of a 60-day season with a 15-bird daily limit or a 70-day season with a 12-bird limit.

The Mississippi Wildlife Commission also set early migratory bird seasons for:

Teal — Sept. 13-28 statewide, daily limit is 4.

Canada Goose — Sept. 1-15, daily limit is 5.

Snipe — Nov. 8-Feb. 22, daily limit is 8.

Woodcock — Dec. 13-Jan. 26, daily limit is 3.
