Saints happy with their new Draft approach
No general manager or head coach comes out publicly following the long two days of the NFL Draft with a scowl and discouraging remarks toward the prospect class they just assembled.
Most depart from their respective war rooms glowing at what a remarkable job their team did through the moving and shaking of the seven-round Draft.
Some coaches even don regrettable head gear like former New Orleans Saints coach Mike Ditka did following his one-player Draft of 1999 where the team traded away all of its Draft picks for running back Ricky Williams.
Current Saints coach Sean Payton said his gleaming grin following the 2008 Draft was legit. And it didn’t take a player falling into the team’s lap or explaining the reason behind drafting a small-school unknown.
