Mock draft: Pick any player in the league
Everyone and his step-grandmother are churning out multiple mock drafts these days, and now we’re starting to see alternative formats. So-called “backdrafts” are becoming popular, with the first round of past drafts being redone based on what we know now. It’s all sort of ridiculous, but, you know, when in Rome.
Here’s a take on what would happen in Round 1 of the 2008 draft if the teams were allowed to pick players already in the league. I’ll admit it: It’s silly. But it’s also a lot more interesting than perusing another standard mock draft, version 16.4.
1. Miami Dolphins: Tom Brady, quarterback, Patriots. Is there any doubt about this one? Though he’s now 30 years old, Brady will make any team a contender until the day he retires.
2. St. Louis Rams: Jared Allen, defensive end, Chiefs. Allen is an absolute beast, arguably the best defensive player in the league. And he’s only 26.
