Rebs sweep hotly contested twinbill
By the fifth inning of the first game here on Saturday afternoon, things were already starting to get a little chippy at Oxford-University Stadium.
A batter each for Vanderbilt and Ole Miss had been hit by a pitch. Angry words were exchanged. An already pivotal Southeastern Conference series had gained some added sizzle.
So hours later, after the Rebels had finished a doubleheader sweep over the Commodores, Ole Miss reliever Scott Bittle admitted that these two wins were something to savor.
“I’m going to try and say this nicely,” Bittle said. “(Vanderbilt’s) one of those teams that you love to beat.”
