Lauderdale County Election Commission looking to return to paper ballots
After years of using the touch-screen system, the commission is considering a system that would allow voters to feed paper ballots into a scanner, which would tally results on site.
The Lauderdale County Board of Supervisors this week approved an item that would allow the county to accept bids for the scanners.
“The ball has started rolling, but it will take a few more months before it will be officially changed,” said Jeff Tate, chairman of the commission. “We feel quite sure that prior to 2018 these changes will be implemented.”
