Madison County makes move to paper ballots

By: Magnolia Tribune - March 23, 2017

County elections moving back to paper ballots

District 5 Supervisor Paul Griffin questioned why the county was moving away from the electronic ballots and going back to paper ballots.

“What I’m seeing is, looking like we are making a step backwards,” he said. “Computers supposed to make our elections so much better, so much safer. Now we want to go back to the paper ballot?”

Lowe said the equipment merges the best of both technologies and includes a touchscreen. He said when a ballot is scanned at the precinct it will alert voters if they missed a race or messed up the ballot somehow. He said absentee ballots will now be able to be scanned at the precinct, too.
