Party switch gives GOP supermajority, strengthens Gunn
House District 79 — It appears Republican challenger Mark Tullos of Raleigh has defeated incumbent Democratic Rep. Bo Eaton of Taylorsville. Tullos leads by six votes, and there are only four affidavit votes out pending photo ID verification. Tullos told supporters, “Don’t ever believe that your vote doesn’t count.”
House District 122 – It appears incumbent Rep. David Baria, D-Bay St. Louis, has defeated Republican challenger Mickey Lagasse. Baria in a final count led by 103 votes, with only 29 affidavits still out. However, Lagasse and state GOP officials are still questioning some issues, and he has not conceded.
