Breaker-one-nine for the Democratic Party
Democratic leaders, speculating they could take advantage of the establishment GOP-tea party rift, were talking of taking back the state House majority and turning back the Red tide of the last two decades.
But the Yellow Dog took its worst kicking ever on Tuesday night, and it didn’t come from the GOP elephant this time. Democratic leaders are still trying to figure out how an unknown truck driver who didn’t run a campaign managed to become their gubernatorial nominee.
I’d say the party should probably be a little worried right now that the GOP might take the House 3/5 super majority it covets. This would allow Republicans to steamroll spending and taxing legislation. And Attorney General Jim Hood, who’s been called the “last Democrat in Dixie,” has to be at least a little concerned about his re-election.
