This evening, Congressman Trent Kelly (MS-01) was sworn in as a Member of the U.S. House of Representatives in the 114th Congress.
Speaker of the House John Boehner conducted an individual swearing-in ceremony, which was attended by his wife Sheila and their three children John Forrest, Morgan, and Jackson, along with family and friends. Immediately following, he took the oath of office on the floor of the House of Representatives.
Congressman Kelly took the oath of office using his personal Bible that was with him through his deployments to Iraq in 2005 and 2009.
Congressman Kelly previously served as the District Attorney for Lee, Pontotoc, Alcorn, Monroe, Itawamba, Prentiss and Tishomingo Counties. An Iraq War Veteran, he is currently serving as a Colonel in the Mississippi Army National Guard.
