Flags withdraws proposal seeking to broaden mayor’s authority
VICKSBURG, Miss. –
Vicksburg Mayor George Flaggs Jr. has withdrawn a proposal that would have given him more authority, The Vicksburg Post reported.
Flaggs said he lacked support from the Board of Aldermen, which led him to drop the proposed amendment to the city’s charter during Monday’s work session. The proposal would have given the mayor’s office more authority over city business and would have changed some appointment powers, the newspaper said.
