RELEASE FROM MS SOS HOSEMANN:
Voting Absentee in person ends Saturday
Jackson, Miss.—The deadline to cast an absentee ballot in person at the Circuit Clerk’s Office is this Saturday, November 1, 2014.
“The Statewide Election Management System indicates roughly the same number of absentee ballots have been requested for the General Election as the Primary Election,” says Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann. “Typically, absentee ballots are a good indicator of voter turnout.”
The day before the Primary Election, approximately 18,036 absentee ballots had been requested. As of today, the Statewide Election Management System shows 16,521 absentee ballots have been requested.
“Don’t wait until the last minute,” adds Secretary Hosemann. “If you are eligible to vote by absentee ballot, visit your Circuit Clerk’s Office today.”
State law requires Circuit Clerk’s offices to be open 8:00 am until 12:00 pm on Saturday, November 1st for individuals who need to cast an absentee ballot. Absentee ballots submitted by mail must be received by the Circuit Clerk no later than 5:00 pm, Monday, November 3, 2014. Absentee ballots returned by military and overseas voters must be received by 7:00 pm the day of the election.
