Amendment seeks to make hunting, fishing ‘constitutional rights’
Preserving Mississippians’ tradition of hunting and fishing is what backers of a constitutional amendment say is behind the issue that will be on the ballot on Nov. 4.
The amendment seeks to establish an individual constitutional right to hunt and fish, according to Rep. Scott Bounds, R-Philadelphia, chairman of the Mississippi House Wildlife Fisheries and Parks Committee.
“It’s going to protect our citizens’ right to hunt and fish, as long as they obey the law,” Bounds said.
