Nosef said he finds it “hard to believe” that large numbers of McDaniel supporters would help elect Childers directly or by sitting on their hands in the general election.
But Nicholson said: “If Thad is the candidate, Childers will be our next senator. I hear some people saying they’ll vote for (Childers), but I think most are just more likely to sit it out. Philosophically — take away what they say — and there’s very little difference between Childers and Cochran.”
Besides that, Nicholson predicts, “The Democrats are going to pound Cochran into powder, with all the things now publicly and openly known about him.”
The Republican establishment “has cost the country a Republican Senate seat, and they have cost Mississippi a Republican senator,” he said.
