Republican Sen. Thad Cochran still hasn’t decided if he’ll run for a seventh term next year, but political experts said there’s no reason for him to feel rushed.
“Fear of competition is not a factor,” said Jennifer Duffy, a senior editor at the Cook Political Report, which tracks congressional races. “ This is really a genuine life decision.”
Cochran’s seat is considered solidly Republican, and he’s not likely to face a formidable challenger, experts say. That’s partly because he’s been effective in securing federal money.
