Nunnelee makes statement on House passing budget resolution

By: Magnolia Tribune - March 22, 2013

HOUSE PASSES BUDGET, CR

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Alan Nunnelee (R-Miss) released the following statement after the House passed H. Con. Res. 25, the budget resolution for fiscal year 2014:

“This budget keeps our promise to the American people by responsibly balancing within ten years without raising taxes,” Nunnelee said.

The House also defeated Democrat budget proposals that called for higher taxes, more spending, and never balanced.

“Despite winning a huge tax increase just a few weeks ago, every plan offered by House Democrats this week included even higher taxes and deficit spending as far as the eye can see. I was happy to vote to kill Nancy Pelosi’s budget plans,” Nunnelee said.

Nunnelee also voted in support of H.R. 933, the Full-Year Continuing Appropriations Act of 2013, which passed easily, 318-109.

“The CR keeps sequestration spending cuts and denies increased funding for administration priorities such as Obamacare and Dodd-Frank,” Nunnelee said. “It also includes important 2nd Amendment rights provisions and increased flexibility for our armed services as they implement sequester related spending reductions.”

Congressman Alan Nunnelee represents Mississippi’s First Congressional District. He serves on the House Appropriations Committee and the House Budget Committee. This is his second term.
