Officials take in tornado damage
Two of the Pine Belt’s elected officials in Washington, D.C., surveyed their constituents in rebuilding mode Wednesday.
“My first impression is that Mississippians are very resilient,” said Sen. Roger Wicker, in town for the General Dynamics jobs announcement. “It’s like worker bees, like ants, we’re out rebuilding and cleaning up.”
Wicker took a police van tour of damaged areas from the Feb. 10 tornado in Petal and Hattiesburg on Wednesday.
He was escorted by Hattiesburg Mayor Johnny DuPree, Hattiesburg City Council President Kim Bradley and members of the Forrest County Board of Supervisors.
