Taxpayers Divided On Tax Hikes

Jewel Nixon supports compromise, but the Jackson woman doesn’t support Mississippi senators Thad Cochran and Roger Wicker’s vote to hike taxes on high income earners.

“Because I think they are high enough and i think everybody is being taxed enough. I personally can’t afford any more taxes,” said Nixon.

But Florine Rucker is in favor of higher taxes.

“Because the country is in dire straits and anyone that can help i think should. if it means my taxes will go up a few dollars i don’t have a problem with that i really don’t,” she said.
