Jim Hod opinion questions Southaven mayor’s pay perk

A Mississippi attorney general’s opinion released Tuesday raises more questions about Southaven Mayor Greg Davis’ salary.

With a base salary of $145,000 a year, Davis received more than the governor, and several stipends brought his pay to $187,000.

But following an investigation by The Commercial Appeal in January, officials eliminated a $35,000 stipend Davis received to run the city’s water operations.

Now, an opinion by Atty. Gen. Jim Hood’s office seems to cast more doubt over the validity of that $35,000 stipend.
