Rep. David Baria, who is running as a Democrat for the U.S. Senate seat currently held by Senator Roger Wicker, was recently endorsed by Rep. Sonya Williams-Barnes, the Chair of the Legislative Black Caucus in the state.
“I am supporting David Baria for U.S. Senate because I’ve seen his leadership on behalf of our Democratic Party and our principles. David Baria has fought for the issues we care about: public education, access to health care, opportunity for all Mississippians. David Baria is the best candidate to win in November and change this seat from Republican to Democrat.” – Rep. Sonya Williams-Barnes
Rep. Baria is not the only Democrat running in the Senate election; Howard Sherman, husband of access Sela Ward, Jensen Bohren, Jerone Garland, Victor G. Maurice Jr. and fellow House member, Rep. Omeria Scott are also in the race.
Some where surprised when both Scott and Baria entered the race for the Democratic party. When asked to comment on the recent endorsement she declined.
