Taking charge of the future in the upcoming year

South Mississippians are resilient and strong. We are unafraid to step up to a challenge, especially when our country’s future is at stake.
In 2010, our national deficit reached a record $1.5 trillion. Our crushing debt neared $14 trillion, and interest on the debt alone has taken up a growing share of our budget.
President Obama’s failed stimulus package of 2009, rubber-stamped by the Democratic-led Congress, was delivered with promises to keep unemployment from going above 8 percent.

Senate passes bipartisan housing bill to improve access and affordability
The bill passed on Thursday would reduce regulations, regulate corporate investors and expand how housing dollars can be used to build affordable homes and rentals.
