Politico ebook sheds light on Barbour’s presidential bid

Did Gov. Haley Barbour drop his presidential aspirations amid “embarrassing” revelations from an opposition research document?

That’s what a new Politico.com ebook released today says.

Here’s a passage discussing the research Barbour’s advisers collected:

“It was a big file,” recalled one adviser. Flashing red lights included foreign clients of Barbour’s lobbying business. “The assumption was: if we can find it within 10 or 12 weeks, then we have to assume that the Washington Post, The New York Times, Politico or The Wall Street Journal already have this or will have this.” Some of the material was so embarrassing that Barbour was briefed in private [by chief adviser Scott Reed].
