Boyce Adams, candidate for Northern PSC, responds to Brandon Presley opposition to Kemper Plant

By: Magnolia Tribune - September 14, 2011

Statement from Boyce Adams, Republican nominee for Public Service Commissioner, Northern District of Mississippi

“It is obvious from Commissioner Presley’s comments today that he is sour and defensive about his opposition to one of the biggest economic development projects in the state, but like the overwhelming majority of Mississippians, I believe we can take on big projects and new ways to power our state—like the new Kemper County Coal Plant—with resources in Mississippi.

For all of the big talk and attempt to say clever things to get media attention, the reality is we have a PSC Commissioner who is a schoolyard bully without any real commitment to growing our economy and creating more jobs.

With the other two members of the Public Service Commission, Governor Haley Barbour, Lt. Governor Phil Bryant and practically every other conservative leader in the state supporting the big economic boom that will result from the Kemper County Coal Plant, Commissioner Presley and the radical left environmentalists were some of the handful of people in opposition.

Commissioner Presley should be interested in new technologies and ways to put our state to work, and not on increasing the regulatory burden with Obama-style regulation.

North Mississippi needs common-sense, conservative leadership and a voice of reason that understands how to bring more jobs to Mississippi and secure our energy future.”
