Ruling likely this week on eminent domain ballot measure
Supporters and opponents of a ballot initiative seeking to limit eminent domain should learn by the end of the week which side prevailed in Hinds County Circuit Court.
Judge Winston Kidd heard from each side Monday and said he would rule later.
Jackson businessman Leland Speed is suing Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann to keep the initiative off the Nov. 8 ballot. Speed is executive director of the state’s economic development agency, but he filed the suit as a private citizen.
