CL – FEMA funds critical to region, US
While the budget stalemate between House Republicans and the Obama administration has focused on spending matters, congressional lawmakers from Mississippi and other states are worried disaster relief funding may run short by early next year.
As reported Sunday in The Clarion-Ledger, Congress may have to approve extra funding for the Federal Emergency Management Agency, according to 2nd District U.S. Rep. Bennie Thompson, D-Bolton, the top Democrat on the House Homeland Security Committee with jurisdiction over the agency.
