Jackson: Friendly to business crucial
However, Council President Frank Bluntson said Mayor Harvey Johnson Jr. told him he intends to veto the action. As a result, Bluntson said the city “is not business friendly.”
“I know we’re not business unfriendly,” Johnson said. “We just have to adhere to the ordinance.”
Not “business unfriendly” is not exactly “business friendly,” now is it? Especially if it takes two years for a business to get sign replaced.
Of course, the first step toward making change is acknowledging a problem.
The next step is formulating a plan for changing the status quo:
•First, setting a priority of making the city “business friendly.”
•Secondly, enlisting support of the business community in finding out exactly what would be entailed in achieving that goal.
