Campaign Money

After spending more than a quarter of a million dollars over the last four months, Johnny Dupree ended up with only $82,000 cash in the bank as of April 30th. Lucien Smith continues to lead the other two GOP candidates for Treasurer with $425,000 in the bank, almost four times what Lynn Fitch and Lee Yancey are reporting. The one surprise: Tate Reeves raised about $725,000 and reported $2.1 million cash on hand. Those are impressive numbers. His LG opponent, Billy Hewes, raised more than half a million dollars during the last four months, but spent more during that time, leaving him with about $1.2 million in the bank. Having a two-to-one advantage in available cash for the next three months of the primary is a big deal.
