Jim Hood – Oil spill may have caused illness
GULFPORT — Attorney General Jim Hood told the Sun Herald on Thursday he didn’t get the answers he expected when he took blood work to the state Health Department from Coast residents who believe they are ill because of the BP oil spill.
He said the lab tests from a half-dozen people in Waveland indicated they were exposed to high levels of volatile organic compounds and some were suffering recurring illnesses.
Hood promised to seek expert help when residents brought him the tests at a town meeting last month in Waveland.
