Hewes: No Senate vote on new House map
Republican Sen. Billy Hewes, who chairs the Rules Committee, says he won’t bring a revised House redistricting map up for a vote in the Senate.
The revised map passed the House on Wednesday after it was inserted in a Senate resolution intended to give lawmakers more time to reach an agreement on redistricting.
Hewes says legal counsel had informed Senate leaders the resolution was unconstitutional because the map shouldn’t have been included in it.
