Mississippi Dems lacking cash, clout
The DNC also drafted a new interim executive director for the party. Kentucky-native Travis Brock started working in Mississippi at the end of last month. He had served as executive director of the Nevada Democratic Party. Franks said Brock “rebuilt” the party there.
“He’s someone who understands how to fight the fight,” he said.
Beginning in June, the DNC will begin gradually increasing its funding for the cash-strapped Mississippi party. By 2012, the party will be getting double what it gets today – something party leaders say is necessary to stay afloat. The amount could not be verified late Saturday.
