Ex-Panola official accused of double-dipping
A former administrator in Panola County owes the state $292,772 for overtime pay he used to pad his retirement and for inappropriately double-dipping in the state retirement system, state officials say.
State Auditor Stacey Pickering said Wednesday that he has issued a demand for that amount from Michael David Chandler, 55, of Grenada.
“This is a strong statement we feel on behalf of the state, to our public employees, that we will not allow for our state retirement system to be defrauded in any way,” Pickering said.
