Election Night String

Election Night String

By: Magnolia Tribune - November 3, 2010

11:00 – NE MS Daily Journal had the best election website of the night.

11:00 – very unfortunate that WLBT was using ancient (at least 90 minutes old) results on their 10:00 pm newscast for Hinds County races.

10:50 – Haley Barbour and RGA having huge gubernatorial pickups – New Mexico, Michigan, Pennsylvania. Ohio looks inevitable. HUGE 2012 implications.

10:36 – There will be special elections for Nunnelee’s and Palazzo’s seats. Also, there will be the transportation commish’s seat that will have to be filled.

10:30 – Taylor concedes. It’s done.

10:26 – Another big pile of boxes came in from Jackson County. Palazzo’s lead holds 52/47. I can’t believe the AP hasn’t called it.

10:21 – I think Palazzo has got it. I don’t believe it. I just don’t think Taylor can make up enough votes with what’s left over. Concession should be pending.

10:17 – Dick Morris calls MS-4 for Palazzo. http://www.dickmorris.com/blog/election-night-coverage-and-analysis/

10:05 – I’ve said all along that I’ve been discounting the Tarrance Group polling by about 4 points. It’s turning out they have been right on the money.

10:02 – Donna Barnes is opening up some daylight on Kelly Mims. That’s one we’ve been following. 53/47 about 75% home.

10:00 – Palazzo +7000 votes with 85% in. 52/47

9:56 – Brent Southern made the runoff with Melvin Preister in the County Court

9:51 – Taylor is doing better in Harrison, Hancock and Stone. All outlying counties, Palazzo is rolling. Jackson, Lamar, Perry and Pearl River are still partly out. All of those have been good counties so far for Palazzo.

9:49 – Haley Barbour on NBC

9:47 – I said that Nunnelee would have to beat Childers by 7 or more for Palazzo to get over. This thing could really happen.

9:43 – Nunnelee smoked Childers in Lee County 61/37. Palazzo up by 4,000 votes about 70% reporting.

9:41 – AP calls it for your next Representative from North Mississippi, Rep. Alan Nunnelee!

8:53 – Donna Barnes/Kelly Mims race is as close as it gets. Inside a point. 50/50.

8:52 – Clarion Ledger has no returns. Extremely disappointing.

8:46 – Gregg Harper MS-3 declared a winner.

8:30 – 15% in. Palazzo holds a slight lead over Taylor in MS-4. Nunnelee has a commanding lead in MS-1 so far (with no boxes in from Desoto)

8:29 – LA Senator David Vitter wins.

8:28 – Another Blue Dog FL Dem Allen Boyd – Toast.

8:24 – With 10% in for MS-4, it’s within a point between Taylor and Palazzo. 49/48

8:23 – AP Calls MS-2 for Bennie Thompson. It doesn’t look close. Bill Marcy should get his money back from that polling outfit JME Enterprises in Louisiana.

8:20 – Independents trending collectively less than 1% in MS-1

8:12 – With 5% in for MS-1, Nunnelee 65/Childers 32

8:10 – Another Blue Dog bites the dust. Glen Nye (D) in VA.

8:05 – First Hinds County returns are in. Jeff Weill up
