And 2 other governors reiterating shipyard commitment
A potential buyer of Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding’s local yard said in a letter delivered this week to Gov. Haley Barbour that it’s committed to making Ingalls “a strong and vibrant business for many years to come.”
Cleveland-based Cleveland Shipbuilding Group LLC also said it has developed a plan to quickly finalize contract negotiations that have approximately $5 billion in work for the U.S. Navy and Coast Guard hanging in the balance.
In a letter to Barbour dated Monday, Cleveland principals reiterated their commitment to keep and grow the yards, rather than “flip” them as a financial acquirer would be apt to do.
Gov. Bobby Jindal of Louisiana and Gov. Robert McDonnell of Virginia received similar letters by express mail customized to their local operations.
