Fed funds approved for ferry terminal
GULFPORT — The Ship Island ferryboat terminal will be rebuilt with a $223,000 grant from the Federal Highway Administration, Sen. Thad Cochran’s office announced Thursday.
The grant application had been submitted through the Mississippi Department of Transportation as part of the Ferryboat Discretionary Fund Program.
Katrina destroyed the terminal where the Ship Island ferry had docked before the hurricane.
The work is part of the Jones Park revitalization project.
