Immigration focus of Thursday forum
The Mississippi Federation for Immigration Reform and Enforcement has scheduled an Immigration Forum in Hattiesburg.
The event, presented by MFIRE in association with The Mississippi Tea Party, is at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the third-floor ballroom of the Thad Cochran Center at the University of Southern Mississippi.
The local Tea Party organization, the 912 Project Hattiesburg, will host the free event, which is open to the public.
Guest speakers will be Sen. Chris McDaniel, Sen. Joey Fillingane, Rep. Becky Currie, Russ Latino, a Jackson attorney, and Beau Johnson, a former Arizona resident.
Currie of Brookhaven plans to introduce a bill in the upcoming session similar to Arizona’s controversial immigration law. McDaniel and Fillingane are working on similar legislation in the Senate.
