Travis Childers holds campaign kickoff
Stepping off the plane from D.C. last night, Congressman Childers will spend the next six weeks in the first district as he steadies his campaign trail.
“It’s about north Mississippi, you know I have that little plaque on my desk I’ve had it there since day one,” says Childers. “It simply reads north Mississippi comes first, and it has to. That’s my job, that’s why north Mississippi will always come first.”
As reported by WTVA Friday night, a Time Magazine article stated Childers was seeking an appearance from First Lady Michelle Obama to the first district, an issue he immediatley denied.
“We actually haven’t invited any Washington public figure to campaign for us,” Childers denies. “Here’s whose endorsement we want the most, the people of north Mississippi, those are the people we stand up everyday for in Congress.”
