Prosecutors must show relevance to reveal Warrs’ finances
Prosecutors will be allowed to present relevant information about the financial condition of former Mayor Brent Warr and his wife, Laura, at their upcoming trial on Katrina fraud charges.
Relevance to the charge must be established before the financial information can be shared with the jury, U.S. District Court Judge Walter Gex III ruled Tuesday.
The Warrs sought to bar evidence about their financial condition, arguing that Katrina relief funds were distributed under the federal Stafford Act without income eligibility limits.
