A little quick math on JPS and education in Jackson

By: Magnolia Tribune - August 7, 2009

This week, Jackson Public Schools announced a budget for the 2009-2010 school year of $232,000,000. JPS currently has about 32,000 students. The YallPolitics Math and Financial Oversight Department calculates that to be about $7,250 per child.

Just to yield some perspective to how much that is, here are some tuitions of private school options in Jackson.

First Pres – $4,400

Jackson Academy – $8,460-$10,490

St. Andrews – $10,315-11,375

Just food for the YP Nation thought.
