Should Jackson pay for Melton’s legal woes?

Jackson faces Melton’s legal woes

The Jackson City Council is set to vote today on several pending legal matters involving the late Mayor Frank Melton — including whether the city should pay his attorney fees.

The council plans to discuss the items at a 4 p.m. meeting at City Hall.

Acting Mayor Leslie Burl McLemore said the council agreed that it was time to discuss how the city will move forward.

“I am not suggesting that we’ll make closure on all these issues, but we’ll at least start the conversation,” McLemore said.
