The former head of Jackson’s Community Improvement Division filed paperwork today to run for the Ward 6 post on the City Council.
Joe Lewis stepped down from his city position on Friday. Among other things, he oversaw the city’s program to demolish abandoned and rundown houses.
Lewis now enters a crowded council race with at least 10 other Ward 6 contenders.
Ward 6 has been represented by Councilman Marshand Crisler since 2001. Crisler is vacating his seat to run for mayor.
