Warr bows out; Schloegel to run for mayor
Facing multiple charges of Katrina fraud, Brent Warr has decided against seeking re-election.
A source close to the mayor said his announcement should be forthcoming. Warr was scheduled to be in a City Council meeting at 2 or 2:30 p.m. and could not be reached to comment.
Also, George Schloegel, who heads Hancock Holding Co., has scheduled a news conference for 6:30 p.m. A source close to Schloegel said he had hoped when he was 22 or 24 to run for mayor, but put those plans on hold for a career at the bank.
Schloegel would not comment on his reason for scheduling the news conference at 6:30 p.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn.
