A clearer picture of Mississippi’s 2011 statewide races is emerging, as State Sen. Billy Hewes III confirmed he will be a candidate for lieutenant governor in 2011.
After much pressing Wednesday, Hewes, R-Gulfport, confirmed he was a candidate, but he says he doesn’t know when an official campaign announcement is coming.
“The early response has been extremely positive,” Hewes said.
When asked whether he was running, Hewes first said it was only a rumor. But after he was told that the e-mail from the relative said he was running, Hewes confirmed he is a candidate.
