Election ’08: voters have top choices Tuesday

By: Magnolia Tribune - November 3, 2008

The Clarion-Ledger Editorial, 11/3/8

During the past week, The Clarion-Ledger has listed candidates that it believes are the best for the major posts up for election on Tuesday.

We do this not to tell anyone how to vote, but to give our opinion on who we believe are the best candidates and issues that we believe are important to our community, our state, our region and our nation.

We invite readers to view the previous week’s endorsements for the reasons for our choices.

On Sunday, we endorsed Democratic presidential nominee Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill, for president over Republican Sen. John McCain, because we believe Obama offers a brighter vision for the future that is focused on domestic needs and best serving average Americans.

In the special election to fill the term of former Sen. Trent Lott, we believe former Democratic Gov. Ronnie Musgrove is the best choice for the U.S. Senate, due to his proven record of leadership.
