After weeks of uncertainty, Mayor Frank Melton’s administration said Monday that the city is ready to select a company to run its wastewater system.
The Jackson City Council scheduled a meeting for 4 p.m. Wednesday at City Hall to hear what company the city recommendsand then vote.
The contract is one of the city’s largest, worth about $7 million a year.
The city had a Sept. 30 deadline to sign a new contract, but politics and accusations of wrongdoing have delayed the process.
The council extended that deadline until the end of this month to give the city time to review its bid process and recommend one of three companies vying for the job.
