Farish project changes afoot

By: Magnolia Tribune - October 15, 2008

The Clarion-Ledger, 10/15/8

A group of local investors plans to buy a long-term lease for the planned entertainment district on Farish Street from Performa Entertainment Real Estate.

The move largely will cut ties with Performa, now under investigation by the city of Memphis. The city is looking into whether Performa used money it earned from running its famous Beale Street to pay for other projects.

Jackson developer David Watkins, a partner in the Farish Street project, said he does not believe the investigation will harm development in Jackson.

“It will have no affect on our deal. Zero,” he said.
