A “For Sale” sign hangs on the former offices of The Scruggs Law Firm in downtown Oxford, a reminder of the firm’s downfall in a judicial bribery scandal that cost its principal attorneys their licenses and their liberty.
Today, the son of firm founder Richard “Dickie” Scruggs will turn himself in to a federal prison in Forrest City, Ark., to begin serving a 14-month sentence. Zach Scruggs pleaded guilty to knowing a crime was being committed but failing to report it.
