SENATOR DAVIS ANNOUNCES DR. T.K. WETHERELL TO TESTIFY AT HEARING
Dr. T.K. Wetherell, President of Florida State University, will testify before the Mississippi Senate Universities and Colleges Committee on September 11, 2008, State Senator Doug Davis (R-Hernando) announced today.
As the 13th president of FSU, Dr. Wetherell is the first graduate of Florida State to serve as president of the university. Dr. Wetherell has over 30 years of experience in higher education and he also served in the Florida House of Representatives from 1980-1992. The last two years of his legislative career he served as Speaker of the House of Representatives. While in the Florida legislature, Dr. Wetherell served as Chairman of the Appropriations Committee and Chairman of the Higher Education committee.
Senator Davis, Chairman of the Mississippi Senate Universities and Colleges Committee, issued the following statement regarding Dr. Wetherell’s visit:
“Dr. T.K. Wetherell is recognized nationally for his knowledge in the area of higher education. Because of his past legislative experience in the Florida House of Representatives and his current position with Florida State University, Dr. Wetherell can offer unique insight regarding higher education policy. I greatly appreciate him accepting my invitation to come to Mississippi, and I look forward to him participating in our discussion on Mississippi’s college system.”
The Senate Universities and Colleges Committee will hold a two day hearing beginning at 1:30 PM on September 10 in room 216 at the State Capitol.
