A day after a shooting outside a Jackson nightclub, Jackson Police Chief Malcolm McMillin said Monday he would like to see the club shut down.
But there’s one issue: Jackson police are forbidden by a 2005 court order from having anything to do with the Upper Level Bar & Grill on West Northside Drive, McMillin said.
“We have an injunction now against the Police Department concerning enforcement at the Upper Level lounge … a court injunction saying for us not to harass, go in there or have anything to do with the Upper Level lounge,” McMillin said.
McMillin said his officers can’t go to the Upper Level unless they are responding to a call.
