A Greenwood councilman has apologized for using a racial slur in an e-mail referring to the council’s president, David Jordan, who is black.
“I am sorry that I used the language that I used,” John Lee said in a prepared statement. “I did not intend for it to be harmful to David nor to our community. I will continue to work with David, and I hope that David will continue to work with me to make our community a better place to live.”
Lee, who is white, sent the e-mail last week to 15 individuals, all white.
