All those property owners who sustained damage from the tornado that swept through the Jackson/Hinds area earlier this month must not “count” when it comes to the federal government.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency notified Gov. Haley Barbour on Friday that it has rejected his request for a disaster declaration that would have provided federal assistance for individuals and public facilities in the capital city.
Why? Because the city and the county didn’t receive enough damage!
Five tornadoes, with winds of up to 114 mph in the metro area, ripped through central Mississippi on April 4.
