Families of hospice ‘victims’ denounce charges

Families of most of the “victims” listed in a 33-count indictment against Sanctuary Hospice House staffers expressed outrage Thursday over their loved ones’ inclusion and want their names removed from the case.

The relatives claim the investigation, led by the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office, was a setup and that they were duped into providing information later used against the hospice house.

“I demand that my father’s name be removed,” said Norris D. Thomas of Amory. His late father, Jack Thomas, was listed as a victim in the court document.

“We are absolutely opposed to this (indictment),” Thomas said. “We are opposed to Jim Hood’s political agenda. I personally feel violated by the attorney general’s office and I feel the attorney general’s office in no way is working in the best interest of the community or the state of Mississippi.”
